Rotarians Sign the Survivor's Appeal

The hibakusha (atom bomb survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki) have issued a unified appeal that says, in part:
“So that the people from future generations will not have to experience hell on earth, we want to realize a world free of nuclear weapons while we are still alive.”
The Hibakusha supported the signing of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons at the United Nations in July 2017. Rotarians support the Hibakusha Appeal to end nuclear weapons and the entering into force of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. Nuclear weapons pose a very real threat to humans and the entire planet. After researching this field for 25 years, I have come to the conclusion that nuclear weapons serve no useful purpose and that eliminating them is a moral, strategic, and legal imperative. Thirty years after the Cold War ended, we STILL have around 14,000 nuclear weapons in the world, and many of them are far, far more destructive than the Hiroshima bomb. Eliminating nukes will take time, and must be done on the basis of mutual, phased, and fully verified means – but it can be done! Now many Rotarians are joining in this cause, as are thousands of young people, whose future is at stake. Please ask your country to sign the new treaty banning these weapons.

I feel the best thing happened to me is to get associated with RAGFP by which my life turned out meaningful. The most deadly enemy to all of us are the nuclear weapons which can destroy our planet totally. Especially all the living beings including plants. Further can leave the highly radioactive materials which are generated due to the explosion of the nuclear atomic weapons. It is time that we need to educate and ensure that the nuclear armed countries dismantle these ghastly weapons. Also top priority to stop the mining of radioactive elements which are the main ingredients of these weapons. We all should get united and in loud voice appeal to these nations to stop producing these deadly nukes and also to dismantle those which already exist. A nation may be called courageous in its true spirit only when they get rid of nuclear weapons.
