Nuclear weapons pose a very real threat to humans and the entire planet. After researching this field for 25 years, I have come to the conclusion that nuclear weapons serve no useful purpose and that eliminating them is a moral, strategic, and legal imperative. Thirty years after the Cold War ended, we STILL have around 14,000 nuclear weapons in the world, and many of them are far, far more destructive than the Hiroshima bomb. Eliminating nukes will take time, and must be done on the basis of mutual, phased, and fully verified means – but it can be done! Now many Rotarians are joining in this cause, as are thousands of young people, whose future is at stake. Please ask your country to sign the new treaty banning these weapons.
